A WORLD RECORD HOLDER

After playing wheelchair basketball for many years and attending the Beijing Paralympic Games 2008, I met Field Athletics and started training. For four years I practiced both sports, but in 2010 I definitely opted for disc throw. The following year I was summoned to my first Parapan American and finished the competition in 5th place.

In the last years I have participated in many competitions with good results. In 2015, I won a bronze medal in the World Cup in Qatar. In the same year, in Toronto, I consecrated Parapan-American champion in the discus throw and silver in the shot, and in the last Parapan American Games in Lima, I was consecrated as two-time champion in the album release with the world record.

THE FALL MEANT SOMETHING ELSE

I had a very good childhood. At 14 I started to practice volleyball and I was very good at it. I played until I was 27, becoming a three-time volleyball champion for Santos and the Municipal Guard.

In 1991, I joined the Santos Municipal Guard after passing a contest. Two years later, I was in service and suffered a fall where I fractured the tibia. I had surgery to correct the injury and a recovery period. That was when I discovered that the injury occurred because of multiple sclerosis, which I was not aware of. The disease was getting worse and I had to leave the corporation when I was retired after 5 years.
